Dark Mode Is Here — And It’s Now the Default

When we started building CarBuilds, one thing was always clear: the platform should feel comfortable to use during long garage sessions, late-night scrolling, and endless build updates. Whether you are documenting a full engine swap at 2 AM or checking notifications during a coffee break, the interface should stay easy on the eyes and enjoyable to use. That is why we are happy to introduce one of the most requested improvements so far: full dark mode support across the platform.

From now on, dark mode is the new default experience on CarBuilds.

The change is not only about aesthetics. Dark interfaces have become a natural part of modern applications because they reduce visual strain in low-light environments and create a more immersive feeling while browsing content. Car photos, garage shots, timeline updates, and detailed build galleries simply look better on darker backgrounds. The focus stays on the cars and the content itself rather than the surrounding interface.

At the same time, we also wanted to make sure users still have full control over their experience. Not everyone prefers dark interfaces all the time, especially during daytime browsing or office use. That is why CarBuilds now allows you to switch freely between dark mode and light mode whenever you want. The toggle is available directly from your profile and also from the footer, so changing the appearance only takes a second.

Another important reason behind this update was energy consumption. Modern devices, especially smartphones with OLED displays, can benefit noticeably from darker interfaces because black pixels consume significantly less power. Since many CarBuilds users spend a lot of time browsing builds, uploading updates, and interacting with the community from mobile devices, improving energy efficiency became an important consideration for us. While the savings may seem small during a short session, they add up over time and contribute to longer battery life during daily use.

The introduction of dark mode is also part of a larger visual refresh happening across the platform. We wanted CarBuilds to feel more modern, cleaner, and more focused on the actual projects shared by the community. The darker design helps important content stand out more naturally, whether that is a polished show car, a rough drift build, or a daily project slowly evolving over time.

Of course, this is only the beginning. We will continue refining both themes and improving visual consistency across the platform based on community feedback. Some users love the aggressive contrast of dark mode, while others prefer the cleaner and lighter appearance during daytime use. Supporting both properly means everyone can build their own comfortable experience.

If you have not tried it yet, head over to your profile or the footer and switch between the two modes to see which one fits your style best. Whether you prefer dark garages or bright workspaces, CarBuilds now adapts to you.
