- What goes into a car build log?
- Every change to the car, in the order it happened. An entry carries what you did, the parts that went on with their brand and part number, what it cost and who you bought it from, the odometer reading at the time, and the photos you took. An oil change also keeps the viscosity, the filter, the spec approval and the next service due by both date and mileage.
- Can CarBuilds replace my car build spreadsheet?
- That is what most people move across from. A spreadsheet cannot hold the workshop invoice, the photo of the part number or the receipt for the parts, and you cannot hand anyone a link to it. CarBuilds keeps the same running costs and adds the parts list, the gallery, the service history and a page for the whole build.
- Can I see other custom car builds of the same model?
- Yes. Public builds have their own page and are grouped by make and model, so you can read through other Audi S7, Golf GTI or Mustang projects before you commit to parts on yours. Follow a build and its new entries show up in your feed.
- Who can see my build, and can I keep parts of it private?
- You choose per build: private, friends only, followers only, or public. The sections are separate, so you can publish the timeline and the gallery while the expenses stay yours alone. Anyone you invite as a collaborator only gets the sections you hand them.
- What happens to the car build history when I sell the car?
- You transfer it to the buyer, so the car arrives with its own history instead of a folder of receipts. Before that you can give them a printable service record on a public link, listing the vehicle details, the parts fitted and what was paid for the work.
- Can I prove the work and the money that went into the build?
- Each expense keeps its receipt or invoice, each part its number and supplier, and each service its date and mileage. The totals run against a budget you set and sit next to a market value estimate for the car, so what you have put in and what it is worth are in the same place.
